Why Some Small Businesses Succeed Where Others Fail

Hello and welcome to my blog on all topics related to business. I come from a long line of entrepreneurs. I am one of a few members of my family who have not yet started a business, though that doesn't mean I won't try in the future. My name is Stacy Pascal and I have spent years interrogating family members in order to find out everything I can about what it is like to run a business. I have decided to start blogging about business topics just for fun and so that I can hopefully help someone start and run a successful business.

Renting A Moving Truck And Have A Piano? Tips To Get It Ready To Put On The Truck

If you are moving and you have a piano you need to be careful how you prepare it and put it on the moving truck that you rent. If done correctly, you will not have to worry about it when you get to your new home. Below are some tips on how you can do this so you can get everything else packed up and ready.

Purchase or Rent Equipment You Need

Before you get started you need to gather together equipment that you need to move the piano safely. First, you will need one or more dollies as a piano is so heavy. The dollies that you purchase or rent should have four wheels and make sure they can handle the weight of the piano.

Purchase some furniture straps, as well as moving blankets to protect the piano. You can find both things at home improvement stores.

Prepare the Piano

Close the lid before you do anything to protect the piano keys. If the lid has a lock you need to ensure it is locked. If there is no lock then use tape to keep it closed. There is stretch tape that you can purchase at a home improvement store that works well for this purpose.

Cover the entire piano with the furniture blankets that you purchased, and  use ropes or straps to keep the blankets in place.

Load the Piano on the Moving Truck

Because the piano is so heavy it should be the first thing you put inside the truck. It always needs to stand up normally as if you lay the piano on its side, it will damage the inside of the piano. Ask as many of your family members or friends to help you.

First, lift the piano up so you can slide the dolly underneath it. If the piano is very large you should use two dollies. Once the piano is on the dollies secure it with rope or moving straps. Wheel the piano out of your home carefully. Have someone in front of the dollies to help you guide the piano.

Pull the ramp down on the moving truck and slowly guide the piano up the ramp. You should have enough people in the front, sides, and back of the piano to ensure it goes in properly.

Once the piano is in place, put the moving boxes that you have your things packed in all around it to hold it securely in place. The more boxes you have the better.

If you have problems moving your piano or it is upstairs, you should hire an experienced mover to help you. Talk with the moving truck rental company. They may have employees that will do this or they can tell you who you should hire.
