Why Some Small Businesses Succeed Where Others Fail

Hello and welcome to my blog on all topics related to business. I come from a long line of entrepreneurs. I am one of a few members of my family who have not yet started a business, though that doesn't mean I won't try in the future. My name is Stacy Pascal and I have spent years interrogating family members in order to find out everything I can about what it is like to run a business. I have decided to start blogging about business topics just for fun and so that I can hopefully help someone start and run a successful business.

When You Should And Shouldn't Consider Water Softeners

It has been scientifically proven that the body is comprised of 60% water. It makes sense to ensure that any water you add to your body (by drinking it or absorbing it in your shower water) should be as healthy and untainted as possible. However, the question of whether you should or shouldn't consider washer water softeners is dependent upon a number of factors.

Water in Your Home

First of all, in order to answer the question of whether you should or shouldn't consider water softeners, it is first important to evaluate the condition of water in your area and, even more specifically, in your home. There are a number of areas around the country where the water is extremely harsh. This is due to the fact that there are many minerals found in the natural water in any geographical area. Often the minerals in your water system are exposed in various ways, such as stains or calcium build up left on the water fixtures.  Other reasons to take into account of whether the resident should or shouldn't get a water softener include possible calcium build up in the water pipes which may result in an increase in water utility bills.

The Cost

Another major factor to consider whether you should or shouldn't get a water softener is the cost of not only installing the system but the ongoing usage and maintenance.  An added tip, as it relates to cost, would be to purchase the soft water unit with cash and not make payments on time.  Also, one of the major products used to soften hard water is the use of iodized salt.  It is estimated, that for the average household, an entire 40-pound bag of salt is needed each month to effectively use the software system.  Added to the mix is the fact that the system needs to be properly maintained and cleaned regularly either by the resident or a professional company.

Possible Health Concern

Finally, when trying to determine whether you should or shouldn't consider water softeners within the whole household are the possible health concerns related to its usage. Many health practitioners suggest caution in the use of a water softener and the system being hooked up to drinking water. This is due to the fact that salt can have an adverse effect on one's health by increasing blood pressure and therefore cause other related health issues.  Use of this system, as it relates to drinking water, can be especially hazardous if an individual has an existing blood pressure issue.
